Andre Onana Confirmed to Stay at Manchester United
Mansion Sports – Cameroon international goalkeeper Andre Onana has been confirmed to remain at Manchester United, with no transfer bids submitted for him.
The decision comes despite the club’s ongoing search for a new first-choice goalkeeper at Old Trafford.
Anticipated Goalkeeping Changes
This summer, changes in the goalkeeping department were widely expected by both supporters and club management.
Onana has struggled to display consistent performances across two full seasons in England, with several errors casting doubt on his long-term future at the club.
Injury Setback at the Start of the Season
Onana sustained an injury during pre-season, which ruled him out at the beginning of the 2025-26 campaign.
As a result, manager Ruben Amorim handed Altay Bayındır the opportunity to start against Arsenal and Fulham. However, Bayındır’s performances have not been entirely convincing, meaning the goalkeeper position remains an area of concern.
Pursuit of a New Goalkeeper
Manchester United have been linked with several goalkeepers, including Aston Villa’s Emi Martinez and Paris Saint-Germain’s Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Currently, the club is reportedly close to finalizing a deal with Royal Antwerp for 23-year-old Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens.
Onana’s Commitment to Manchester United
The potential arrival of Lammens does not mean Onana will be leaving the club. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Cameroonian goalkeeper has received no transfer offers to consider.
While the transfer windows in Turkey and Saudi Arabia will remain open for ten days beyond the European deadline of September 1, Onana remains fully focused on reclaiming his position as Manchester United’s first-choice goalkeeper.
