Arsenal Consider Recruiting Julian Alvarez from La Liga in 2026
Mansion Sports – In recent years, Arsenal have frequently utilized the La Liga market to strengthen their squad, and a similar approach could potentially be pursued again in 2026.
Several players such as Mikel Merino, Martin Zubimendi, and Cristhian Mosquera have left Spain to continue their careers in London, and the latest name who could follow that path is Julian Alvarez.
Alvarez joined Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2024. Although his performances this season have not been entirely consistent, he has still demonstrated very high quality when playing at the RiyadhAir Metropolitano.
These circumstances have attracted the attention of several major European clubs, with Barcelona emerging as one of the most prominent suitors.
In addition to Barcelona, Chelsea and Liverpool have also been linked with the Argentine forward.
However, Arsenal are now said to be ready to move more quickly than their competitors. Based on a report from ESPN, the Premier League leaders are considering a move in the summer transfer window to recruit Alvarez, who is estimated to have a transfer value well above 100 million euros.
Arsenal’s Advantage in the Race to Sign Alvarez
Barcelona are expected to face difficulties in making a move for Alvarez due to long-standing financial problems.
This situation could place Premier League clubs in a leading position if Alvarez does decide to leave Atletico Madrid.
In this context, Arsenal hold an advantageous position because their sporting director, Andrea Berta, has a close relationship with the forward, given that Berta was the figure who previously negotiated Alvarez’s transfer to Los Colchoneros.
Atletico Madrid’s Stance and Arsenal’s Attacking Needs
Atletico Madrid are no longer bound by financial restrictions as tight as those of previous years, making it unlikely that they would consider selling Alvarez.
Nevertheless, this does not necessarily deter Arsenal’s interest in attempting to submit an offer, and it will be interesting to see whether a serious effort is made to bring him to the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal currently already have Viktor Gyokeres in their squad, but considering his performances have not been optimal since arriving from Sporting CP, there remains an opportunity for Mikel Arteta to add another attacking option to his team.
