Atletico Madrid Preparing for a Busy Summer Transfer Window
Mansion Sports – Atletico Madrid are expected to undergo another busy summer transfer window, in line with their ongoing efforts to close the gap with Barcelona and Real Madrid.
There are plans to strengthen several sectors of Diego Simeone’s squad, with midfield being one of the areas targeted for improvement.
Rodrigo Mendoza and Obed Vargas were signed in January from Elche and Seattle Sounders respectively, although both are not expected to occupy significant positions in the squad for several years to come.
Therefore, there is room for one or two additional players, with Ederson dos Santos mentioned as one of Atletico’s primary targets.
Bernardo Silva Considered by Atletico
However, he is not the only option under consideration. According to CaughtOffside, Atletico are also considering a move to recruit Bernardo Silva, who will be available on a free transfer next summer.
Silva is currently in the final months of his contract with Manchester City, and no step has yet been taken to offer an extension to the Portugal international.
This situation has generated significant speculation regarding his future, with Barcelona also among the clubs linked with a possible move.
Silva Considered Highly Suitable for Simeone’s Style
Silva has previously shown interest in playing in La Liga, and Atletico could provide him with that opportunity this summer.
The 31-year-old will have many offers on the table, but it would not be surprising if he prioritises options coming from Spanish clubs.
Silva would add experience to Atletico’s relatively young squad, which would be greatly needed if Koke Resurreccion and/or Antoine Griezmann depart the team.
He is also considered highly compatible with the style of play desired by Simeone, as he possesses the competitive character essential to help Los Colchoneros reduce the gap with Barcelona and Real Madrid above them in La Liga.
