Barcelona Intensify Efforts to Sign Young Talent, Jesse Bisiwu Becomes Primary Target
Mansion Sports – Barcelona have increased the intensity of their efforts to recruit young talent from across Europe since the arrival of Deco as Director of Football, and the latest name on their radar is Jesse Bisiwu.
The 18-year-old winger has been linked with the Catalan club since December, and Barcelona are determined to bring him to Camp Nou.
The Belgian talent first came onto Barcelona’s radar during the U-17 World Cup in November last year, after delivering impressive performances in his four appearances at the tournament.
In February, Bisiwu’s agent confirmed that Barcelona had made contact regarding his client, but clarified that the club was just one of many major teams that had reached out, and that this was considered normal.
Contact with Club Brugge Intensifies
Barcelona have now stepped up their interest in Bisiwu. Initial contact with Club Brugge took place earlier this week and was led by Head of Scouting Joao Amaral, as reported by Sport.
Bisiwu featured on Monday night in the UEFA Youth League final, which ended in a 1-1 draw between Brugge and Real Madrid before Los Blancos secured victory through a penalty shootout in Lausanne.
Amaral was present in Lausanne to watch the match and expressed Barcelona’s interest in Bisiwu, with the aim of signing him in the summer.
In recent weeks, Amaral and Deco have also been in Brussels to meet with the player’s agent.
Club Brugge Confident of Retaining Bisiwu
Bisiwu remains under contract until 2027, meaning he still has one year remaining on his current deal.
Despite this, Brugge are confident that he will sign a new contract with the club.
The club’s strategy is to retain talented young players from their academy and only consider a sale after they have proven themselves in the first team—a plan that is also being applied to Bisiwu.
