Barcelona Set to Finalize First Signing Ahead of the 2026-27 Season
Mansion Sports – Although the summer transfer window will not open for another four months, FC Barcelona are reportedly close to completing their first signing.
The Catalan club, which plans to add several players to Hansi Flick’s squad in preparation for the 2026-27 season, have worked intensively in recent weeks, and those efforts are now beginning to yield results.
Several areas within the squad are considered in need of reinforcement. The recruitment of a new central defender and a new striker are on the agenda, in addition to an important decision regarding the future of Marcus Rashford, who is currently on a season-long loan from Manchester United.
Rashford has delivered impressive performances since arriving in Catalunya, recording 10 goals and 10 assists across all competitions.
It is therefore not surprising that Barcelona wish to retain him beyond the summer, and they have now taken a significant step toward making that objective a reality.
Personal Agreement Reached
According to a report by Sport, a personal agreement between Barcelona and Rashford has been reached.
The English winger is reportedly prepared to sign a three-year contract at Spotify Camp Nou.
A key aspect of the agreement is a significant salary reduction, which will facilitate Barcelona’s ability to register him in La Liga, while also providing greater financial flexibility for the recruitment of other players.
The next step is to formalize the transfer agreement with Manchester United, although that may not actually be necessary.
In last summer’s loan agreement, Barcelona secured a purchase option valued at 30 million euros, and they are prepared to activate that clause. With an amortization structure, the transfer fee would amount to 10 million euros per season.
Barcelona had initially hoped to negotiate a fee below the 30 million euro figure.
However, Manchester United have made it clear that there will be no further negotiations regarding the transfer value.
This situation does not pose an obstacle for the La Liga leaders, who have demonstrated full readiness to retain Rashford at Spotify Camp Nou on a permanent basis.
