Mansion Sports – Alejandro Garnacho is set to leave Chelsea after spending just one disappointing season at Stamford Bridge to join Aston Villa.

The Argentina international struggled to produce consistent performances in West London and will now seek to revive his career under Unai Emery in Birmingham.

Unai Emery Finally Secures His Primary Winger Target

According to The Athletic, Aston Villa have reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign Garnacho on a one-season loan deal that includes a conditional obligation to buy.

The move represents a major success for Emery, who has admired the 22-year-old winger for a long time.

Emery had also attempted to sign Garnacho last summer when the player left Manchester United, but Garnacho chose to join Chelsea instead of Aston Villa at that time.

Signing Garnacho became a priority for the Spanish coach, who believes that the Argentine player's pace and technical ability are perfectly suited to the tactical system he implements.

The medical examination has already been completed in Birmingham, and a four-year contract has also been agreed upon, which will come into effect once the conditions for the permanent transfer are fulfilled.

This swift move ensures that Aston Villa strengthen their attacking line early in the transfer window in preparation for both domestic and European competitions next season.

Garnacho No Longer Part of Xabi Alonso's Plans

In his only season at Stamford Bridge, he started just 22 matches across all competitions, with only 14 of those coming in the Premier League.

Although he showed glimpses of his enormous potential by scoring eight goals, he remained a squad player for most of the season.

His departure marks another major change in Chelsea's squad restructuring following a season full of changes, which had already included the departures of several prominent players such as Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid and Andrey Santos to Manchester United.

A Strategic Signing Following Morgan Rogers' Departure

Garnacho's arrival is part of a series of transfer activities involving both clubs.

Chelsea recently announced the signing of Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa in a £117 million transfer, setting a new club-record transfer fee and surpassing the £106 million they paid for Enzo Fernández in 2023.

Although the two transfers were negotiated separately, Garnacho's arrival at Villa Park is expected to fill the creative void left by Rogers.

For Garnacho, this move represents yet another fresh start in a career filled with challenges. He spent five years at Manchester United, scoring 26 goals in 144 appearances, but his time at Old Trafford ended on an unfortunate note.

He lost his place under then-Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim, which ultimately led to his departure last summer.

When leaving Manchester, Garnacho openly acknowledged his difficulties by saying that he had done "some bad things" before his relationship with the club became impossible to maintain.
