Harry Kane Responds to Transfer Claim from Barcelona Presidential Candidate

Mansion SportsHarry Kane has responded to a surprising transfer claim from Barcelona presidential candidate Xavi Vilajoana, amid speculation regarding a potential sensational move for the prolific Bayern Munich striker to Camp Nou.

The England national team forward continues to maintain exceptional individual performance standards in German football, while contract extension talks are being prepared at the Allianz Arena.

Barcelona Presidential Candidate Wants Kane at Camp Nou

The 32-year-old striker remains under contract with the reigning Bundesliga champions until the summer of 2027.

There is speculation that he could be released from that agreement in the next transfer window, with Bayern needing to determine whether to obtain financial benefit from his sale.

The possibility of a move to Spain has also been raised, with Vilajoana stating as part of his efforts to take control of the La Liga giants in Catalonia: “We have made some contact, and I assess that he is a player who would fit very well, depending on his contract situation: Harry Kane.

“Kane is a centre-forward who would fully suit our style of play. He is a striker capable of dropping deep to link play with his teammates. He is also able to play as a pure number 9, a killer in front of goal, a finisher. He is a player who brings mobility. He also performs well when the opposing team plays with a deep defensive block. He would add much value to Barcelona’s game.”

Kane Responds to Transfer Talk to Barcelona

Kane stated that he is unaware of any discussions with Blaugrana. He feels pleased to hear that his quality is highly valued by other major European powers, but emphasised that no transfer plan has been arranged.

He said when asked about links with Barca: “I have not heard anything about it. My father and my brother handle everything, but they have not said anything to me. As I have already stated, I am very happy at Bayern. I am focused on this season and my time at Bayern. I take it as a compliment.”

Bayern Planning Contract Extension Talks

It was previously disclosed that there was a £57 million ($77 million) release clause in Kane’s contract.

Bayern supervisory board member Uli Hoeness later told Bild: “I want to clarify that. Harry is a great fortune for us. Because his release clause for the summer of 2026 has now expired and his contract runs until the summer of 2027, we are currently not under pressure.”

Senior figures in Munich have revealed that contract discussions are being planned with Kane.

Sporting director Christoph Freund said: “He still has one and a half years remaining on his contract. He feels very comfortable here. We are not in a hurry about that. He should continue as he is now and continue to feel comfortable with his family in Munich. In this way he can stay in Munich for a long time.”

Bayern legend Lothar Matthaus believes that an agreement will be reached. He told Sky Sports Deutschland: “I do not believe he will leave Bayern. Money is not his main priority; what matters is feeling comfortable – with the coach, teammates, and his family.

“He has adapted well with his children. Bringing his family was a major step. I feel that money is not the most important thing for him. In Saudi Arabia, he might earn three or four times as much. I am convinced Harry Kane will extend his contract with FC Bayern.”

Kane Chasing Lewandowski’s Bundesliga Goal Record

Fellow former Tottenham and England star Danny Murphy recently told GOAL when asked whether a move from Bayern should be considered: “The thing that is always difficult when you get older is thinking too far ahead because we have all been in a situation when the body does not work in the same way. If I were around Kane and had any influence on him, I would not push him to go anywhere because right now, in this Munich team, they look to have a real chance in the Champions League. He is playing as well as we have ever seen from him. Why would you want to disrupt that?”

Kane scored twice in his most recent appearance for Bayern – a 3–2 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt – and has now recorded 28 Bundesliga goals throughout the 2025–26 campaign.

He is pursuing Robert Lewandowski’s single-season record of 41 goals and still has 11 matches remaining this season.
