Mansion Sports – Rasmus Hojlund has confirmed that he has joined Napoli on a permanent deal through an “emotional” message to the Manchester United fanbase.

The mandatory purchase clause in the Danish striker’s contract was activated after the Italian side secured qualification for next season’s Champions League with a 3-0 Serie A victory over Pisa on Sunday.

Champions League Qualification Triggers Permanent Deal

The 21-year-old striker spent this season on loan at Napoli after being deemed surplus to requirements at Manchester United.

The agreement between both clubs included a clause stating that a permanent transfer would become mandatory if Napoli secured a top-four finish in Serie A. Following their 3-0 victory over Pisa, that objective has now been achieved, officially completing a deal worth approximately £38 million.

Hojlund played a crucial role in the decisive match, providing an assist for fellow former United star Scott McTominay before scoring himself in the 92nd minute.

Hojlund’s Message to the Fans

Through his personal Instagram account, Hojlund shared an emotional message with Manchester United supporters:

“This goal felt symbolic because it means two things. We have now secured Champions League football with Napoli, which means based on my contract, I am now officially a Napoli player and I am saying goodbye to Manchester United.”

Napoli Praise Hojlund

The striker’s performances in Italy have been highly impressive, with Hojlund registering 11 goals and six assists in 32 league appearances.

His work ethic and clinical finishing quickly made him a favorite among the Napoli staff. Sporting director Giovanni Manna had previously hinted that the club were highly eager to retain him regardless of their final league position.

Speaking earlier in the spring, Manna said: “Hojlund is very crucial. Even when he does not score, he always works hard for the team. We have an obligation to buy him permanently if we qualify for the Champions League, but I do not think his future will be far from Napoli even if that does not happen.”

Summer Exodus Begins at United

Hojlund’s departure marks the first major transaction in what is expected to be a busy summer for the Red Devils.

As Michael Carrick attempts to reshape the squad according to his own vision, several other high-profile names are expected to follow the striker out of the club.

In addition to Hojlund’s exit, veteran midfielder Casemiro is also set to leave Old Trafford when his contract expires at the end of this season.

With the £38 million fee from Napoli now secured, United are expected to reinvest those funds into new signings as they continue a new era without the Danish international.
