Mansion Sports – New Juventus player Nick Woltemade said that he is delighted to be at the ‘biggest club in Italy’, naming Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Arsenal’s Kai Havertz among his biggest role models, while explaining why it is difficult to compare himself with other elite center-forwards: ‘You do not often see a tall player play like me’.

Woltemade joined Juventus on a one-season loan from Newcastle United on the final day of the summer transfer window, with an initial fee of just €2.8 million for the 2026-27 season.

Juventus also welcomed Pape Matar Sarr on loan with an option to buy from Tottenham on the final day of the transfer window, after previously signing Randal Kolo Muani, Kerim Alajbegovic, Jhon Lucumi, Guglielmo Vicario, Jeff Ekhator, Zeki Celik, and Kamil Grabara during the previous summer.

Woltemade Gives First Interview as a Juventus Player

Woltemade recently gave his first interview as a new Juventus player, discussing his playing style, role models, and targets for the 2026-27 season in an interview with the club’s media channel.

“Of course, I am very, very happy to be here. It is a big club, of course,” Woltemade began.

“I am excited for this new adventure, another new country for me. I am very happy to be able to play for such a big club, the biggest club in Italy, so I am very happy and very proud of myself, my family, my agent, and everyone at Juventus who made this happen. I am very happy to be here and cannot wait to get started.”

It has been widely reported in Italy that Juventus head coach Luciano Spalletti wanted a ‘physical’ center-forward to compete with and rotate with Kolo Muani.

However, despite Woltemade standing at an imposing 1.98 meters, he feels that his greatest strengths are more technical than physical.

Woltemade Considers Technique His Main Strength

“You might think I am only going to play physically, but I think my best qualities are my technique and my understanding of the game,” Woltemade explained.

“I think I am an intelligent player, I can score goals, I can provide assists, I can provide the final pass to my teammates.”

“I think I am good at finding the right position on the pitch. Overall, this is my style of play. You do not often see a tall player play like me.”

The Germany international was asked whether he had had the opportunity to watch Juventus in their first few Serie A matches of the 2026-27 season and how he believed he could help the team this season.

He replied: “It is important that we won both matches. I think I can bring a little bit of everything. The important thing is that I can score goals and help the team achieve victories.”

“Of course, I want to do that and I am very happy to be in a team like Juventus, with a lot of possession, a lot of time on the ball, and I think my best abilities come out in situations like this.”

Still only 23 years old, Woltemade has experience in the Bundesliga and the English Premier League and will now experience playing in Serie A in the coming weeks.

“Last year I moved to England and was able to gain a lot from that experience, such as in terms of physical strength and intelligence in the game.”

“Now I am very happy to be in Italy to play for another top club, especially now with Juventus at such a big club.”

“For me, it is always difficult to talk about targets before experiencing them, I just want to enjoy the moment. I think when I enjoy the moment, I can give my best abilities on the pitch.”

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Kai Havertz Are Woltemade’s Role Models

Woltemade was also asked about his football role models, but then explained that it is difficult for him to draw comparisons with other players given the combination of physical attributes and playing style he possesses.

“It is difficult because I am very tall, there are not many players who are as tall as me. I think I take a little bit from everyone: I have always enjoyed watching Zlatan Ibrahimovic because he is also very tall and has great technique.”

“I really like Kai Havertz, he is also my friend. I always take a little bit from everyone.”
