Mansion Sports – Aston Villa have made a major statement in the transfer market by reaching an agreement with Chelsea to sign Nicolas Jackson on a permanent basis.

The Senegal international is now preparing to move to the West Midlands as Unai Emery successfully secures one of his primary attacking targets, while also reuniting with a striker he previously coached at Villarreal.

Emery Secures His Target in a Major-Money Move

According to The Athletic, Aston Villa have agreed a deal worth a total package of £65 million to sign Jackson from Chelsea, bringing the striker's time at Stamford Bridge to an end.

Villa will pay £47.5 million upfront for the Senegal international, while personal terms at Villa Park are currently being finalized.

The 25-year-old striker has long been a target for the club and remains a player highly valued by Emery, who has been trying to bring him to Birmingham for some time.

His arrival will represent the third transfer activity between the two clubs this summer, following Morgan Rogers' move to Stamford Bridge for a club-record £117 million and Alejandro Garnacho's arrival at Villa on a season-long loan with a conditional obligation to buy.

Reunion with a Familiar Figure

Jackson previously produced his best performances under Emery at Villarreal, scoring 13 goals before securing his move to Chelsea in the summer of 2023.

Their strong relationship proved to be an important factor in completing the deal, with Emery having a thorough understanding of how to maximize the versatile striker's potential.

Initially joining Chelsea from Villarreal in 2023 for £32 million on an eight-year contract, the striker subsequently scored 30 goals in 81 appearances.

Although he regularly demonstrated his raw talent and tireless work ethic, The Blues have now opted to capitalize on his market value as part of the ongoing squad overhaul under their new structure.

Reflecting on His Bundesliga Loan Spell

A loan spell at Bayern Munich during the 2025-26 season saw the Senegalese striker help the club secure their record-extending 34th Bundesliga title, registering eight goals and two assists in 23 league appearances.

Although the agreement included an initial fee of €16.5 million and a conditional obligation to buy worth €65 million, the criteria required to make the transfer permanent at Allianz Arena were ultimately not met.

Bayern honorary president Uli Hoeness later explained the clause by revealing that the obligation to buy required Jackson to start 40 matches, excluding DFB-Pokal fixtures.

With the striker making only 13 starts in the Bundesliga and Champions League throughout the season, the clause expired, resulting in his return to Stamford Bridge before Villa arrived to sign him.

International Experience Arrives at Villa Park

With 37 caps and eight goals for Senegal, Jackson adds proven international quality to Emery's squad.

Since making his debut against the Netherlands at the 2022 World Cup, he has developed into an important part of the Teranga Lions' attack, most recently featuring in four matches and providing one assist at this summer's World Cup, when Senegal were eliminated in the round of 32 against Belgium.
