Aston Villa tried to respond shortly after through Ross Barkley, but his shot lacked power and was comfortably gathered by Mamardashvili.

In the 70th minute, Donyell Malen unleashed a dangerous effort from distance, but the ball narrowly missed the target. The visitors continued pressing in search of a goal, forcing Liverpool to stay compact defensively.

Villa’s best opportunity came in the 79th minute when Barkley failed to connect cleanly with a cross inside the penalty area, wasting a golden chance to reduce the deficit. Despite their efforts, the visitors could not break through Liverpool’s disciplined defense.
