Mansion Sports – Manchester City are considering a surprising move in the summer transfer window by targeting Tottenham Hotspur right-back Pedro Porro, as the reigning Premier League champions attempt to finally find a replacement for Kyle Walker.

With Tottenham currently struggling hard to avoid relegation, the team coached by Pep Guardiola are prepared to take advantage of the possibility of a major player exodus by bringing the Spanish defender back to the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City Target a Familiar Face

Manchester City are reportedly preparing a move to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Premier League champions are increasing their efforts to find a specialist right-back ahead of the next competitive season, as reported by Football Insider.

Since the departure of Kyle Walker last summer, Manchester City have not fully found a figure capable of replacing his influence within the team.

Therefore, Porro has emerged as the main candidate to fill the vacancy after proving himself to be one of the most productive full-backs in the competition, despite Tottenham currently experiencing a difficult season.

Porro’s Impressive Performances

The Spanish player has recorded one goal and five assists in 37 appearances throughout this season. He has remained one of the primary sources of creativity for the North London club, even though his team is facing difficulties in the lower part of the standings and is under a real threat of relegation to the Championship.

If the transfer materializes, the move would mark a surprising return for Porro to Manchester.

Manchester City previously signed him from Girona for a fee of approximately £11 million in 2019.

However, he never appeared in an official match for the club, as he spent loan spells at Real Valladolid and Sporting CP before eventually joining the Lisbon club on a permanent basis in 2022.

Threat of a Tottenham Player Exodus

In the Transfer Insider podcast, journalist Pete O’Rourke explained the situation that is currently developing. He mentioned that Manchester City have long held an interest in Porro.

“Manchester City have long been interested in Porro. They know the Spanish international very well because they previously signed him from Girona in 2019. However, during his time at the club, he did not play a single match for Manchester City.”

O’Rourke also added that the player’s departure could become unavoidable if Tottenham are truly relegated.

“Porro has been one of Tottenham’s best players since joining the club. They certainly do not want to lose a player like him, but the situation may be beyond their control if they suffer the misfortune of relegation this season, which is indeed a real possibility.”

Bergvall Also Attracts Interest from Other Clubs

Porro is not the only major name expected to potentially leave London this summer. Young Swedish midfielder Lucas Bergvall has also begun attracting attention from several major clubs. Chelsea are reportedly monitoring the player’s situation seriously as part of their plan to strengthen the squad.

Although Bergvall is currently sidelined due to injury, he has recorded 71 appearances since joining from Djurgarden in 2024.

That record has made him known as one of the most promising talents in the competition.

Although the player is not actively pushing for a move, the financial reality that could arise from relegation will most likely force Tottenham to sell several of their best assets.
