Mansion Sports – The uncertainty surrounding Julian Alvarez’s future at Atletico Madrid has taken a significant turn following a face-to-face meeting between the forward and manager Diego Simeone.

As the summer transfer window enters its final stages, the Argentine forward is attempting to clarify his position through a private discussion at the club’s training ground in Majadahonda.

Face-to-Face Meeting in Majadahonda

In a move that highlights the growing tension surrounding his future, Alvarez held a meeting with Diego Simeone on Wednesday morning.

Before the first-team squad began their training session at the Cerro del Espino sports complex, the forward nicknamed ‘La Arana’ arrived early to speak directly with his manager.

According to reports confirmed by various media outlets, including Mundo Deportivo, the meeting took place in a good atmosphere but remained direct.

Simeone arrived at the training facility early to welcome the returning players, including Alex Baena and Marcos Llorente.

However, the dialogue with Alvarez carried considerably greater significance, coming shortly after the forward spoke out during this summer’s World Cup to express his desire to leave Atletico Madrid, admitting: "I do not think this is the right time to speak, but I also do not want to hide."

"I try to be an honest person. I speak with people at the club, with those I need to speak with, and I think the best thing for everyone is a transfer. I want to fulfil my dream."

Simeone Aligned with the Club’s Executives

Although the player wanted to express his concerns, Simeone has remained highly consistent in communicating his position, both publicly and privately.

The manager established that stance during the club’s preseason tour in Seoul, when he spoke ahead of the friendly match against Manchester City.

Simeone’s statements left little room for interpretation, as he fully supported the firm position taken by club CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin regarding the possible departure of the highly sought-after forward.

The manager reiterated the club’s position during his conversation with Alvarez, emphasizing that the decision remained an institutional one.

His previous statement in South Korea reflected Simeone’s complete alignment with the board: "The situation is very clear, the institution has made the decision that Miguel Angel explained very well."

Despite interest from Arsenal and PSG, as well as Alvarez’s desire to join Barcelona, Atletico Madrid has firmly rejected the prospect of selling the 2022 World Cup winner to a direct rival in Spain.

Atletico Refuses to Approve the Sale

Although Alvarez’s agents are in Madrid, Atletico’s senior executives have "closed ranks" and refused to negotiate the player’s departure.
