Mourinho Wants Rodri, but Real Madrid's Internal Figures Remain Hesitant

Mansion Sports – Real Madrid have taken a new step toward signing Manchester City midfielder and Spain international Rodri, as Jose Mourinho pushes for the arrival of another star player to strengthen his midfield.

Florentino Perez Begins to Support the Rodri Transfer

Spanish newspaper El Pais reports that Florentino Perez has now begun to support the idea of signing Rodri. Discussions are still ongoing at the Santiago Bernabeu regarding the length of his contract, which is expected to be between three and four years.

There are still some reservations. The player is now 30 years old and previously underwent knee surgery after suffering a cruciate ligament injury. Nevertheless, the majority of those within Real Madrid remain optimistic about his physical condition and technical quality following his recovery.

Rodri Is Trying to Pave the Way to Real Madrid

Rodri, on the other hand, is attempting to pave the way for a move to Real Madrid, particularly after refusing to extend his contract with Manchester City, which expires in June 2027.

If he maintains his decision, he will be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with any club at no cost starting next January. That would give him a strong negotiating position should he decide to leave this summer.

Madrid's Interest in Rodri Has Existed for Years

Real Madrid's interest in Rodri has, in fact, existed for many years. The club previously passed up the opportunity to sign him in 2018 for €20 million before he joined Atletico Madrid and later moved to Manchester City.

Juni Calafat was one of the figures who most strongly opposed the transfer at that time. Now, Rodri has the full support of Jose Mourinho and Jose Angel Sanchez.

Mourinho Believes Rodri Will Improve the Team's Quality

Mourinho believes that Rodri's arrival would provide a significant improvement for Real Madrid. He considers the Spanish midfielder, together with the current squad, capable of taking the team to a higher level, making them better prepared to compete with Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal, and Bayern Munich at the summit of European football.
