Olise Targeted by Madrid for €150 Million, Deschamps Sends a Message to Vincent Kompany
Mansion Sports – Didier Deschamps has responded to the transfer speculation surrounding Michael Olise of FC Bayern Munich.
In an interview with the Spanish sports newspaper Marca, the France national team coach commented on the speculation involving the 24-year-old attacking player of the German record champions.
Olise Linked with Real Madrid
Olise has recently been linked with a move to Real Madrid. In the club’s turbulent presidential election, Florentino Pérez and his challenger Enrique Riquelme are competing for the support of members with transfer promises that at times appear highly ambitious.
Olise is reportedly part of those plans. Last Thursday, Perez promised that if re-elected, he would immediately submit a €150 million offer to sign a star player, who is believed to be the Bayern Munich winger.
Given Olise’s impressive performances last season, Deschamps is not particularly surprised that the player has appeared on the club’s radar.
"I can imagine that he is also receiving offers from other clubs. I am not worried that he would be unable to perform as well as he has at Bayern Munich or with the France national team if he were to play for another club," said the 57-year-old.
Deschamps on Olise's Future: "There Is No Right or Wrong Choice"
"Olise, after all, is 'a shining star and one of the best players in the world'," Deschamps continued.
"He is not the type of person who seeks media attention. What matters is what happens on the pitch; outside of football, he has his own life, but his career development has been truly extraordinary."
However, the France national team coach stopped short of offering advice to his player regarding the next step in his career.
"He will know very well whether he wants to stay at FC Bayern Munich or needs a new environment. There is no right or wrong choice," added Deschamps.
"If I were in Kompany's position or in the position of the Bayern president, of course I would be very happy to have him in the team and see him remain at FC Bayern."
Olise remains under contract with FC Bayern Munich until 2029, and the club’s executives have repeatedly emphasized that the 24-year-old will not be sold during the upcoming transfer window.
