Real Madrid Consider Jose Mourinho as New Head Coach at the End of the Season
Mansion Sports â It is increasingly likely that Real Madrid will appoint a new head coach at the end of this season.
Alvaro Arbeloaâs failure to lead his team to success in the Champions League and Copa del Rey, combined with the possibility of falling short in the La Liga title race, has made it almost certain that Florentino Perez will seek a change.
Rather than appointing a younger coach such as Arbeloa or Xabi Alonso, Real Madrid prefer to bring in an experienced figure as their next head coach.
One candidate who fits that profile is Jose Mourinho, who has been linked with a potential return to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer.
Mourinho Open to Return
According to Diario AS, Mourinho is open to a second spell as Real Madrid head coach, 13 years after his departure in the summer of 2013.
His agent, Jorge Mendes, has communicated this to the club, which has also been informed about a release clause in the Portuguese coachâs contract with Benfica.
Mourinho has the option to terminate his contract with Benfica at the end of the season, which would pave the way for a return to Real Madrid.
He is prepared to take that step if necessary, although everything will depend on whether Florentino Perez is willing to offer him the opportunity for a second spell.
Decision on Arbeloa to Be Made Soon
At this stage, the final decision regarding Arbeloaâs future as Real Madrid head coach has not yet been determined.
The club will assess the teamâs performances over the remaining weeks of the season, with a decision potentially being made before the final match of the campaign, which is scheduled for the end of next month.
Mourinhoâs return to Real Madrid would attract significant attention, given that he still has unfinished business with the club. At present, he is in a strong position to secure a sensational return opportunity.
