Real Madrid Plan a Controversial Move to Hijack Pedri from Barcelona
Mansion Sports – Real Madrid previously sparked major controversy when they succeeded in signing Luis Figo from Barcelona in 2000.
Twenty-six years later, a new saga could potentially unfold once again. Senior figures at the Santiago Bernabeu, led by President Florentino Perez, are believed to be confident that they can recruit another world-class player from their eternal rivals, with internal discussions already having taken place.
The Barcelona player in question is Pedri. Reports from El Desmarque, as cited by Sempre Barca, state that Perez views the 23-year-old midfielder as a dream signing for Real Madrid.
Pedri is regarded as one of the best midfielders in the world at present, and although Barcelona continue to benefit from his contributions, the Real Madrid camp believe that the player could one day become theirs.
Real Madrid are indeed eager to strengthen their midfield, a sector that has been considered to have declined since the retirement of Toni Kroos in 2024.
Several names such as Rodri Hernandez and Vitinha have been linked in the past, but Perez is said to view Pedri as the most ideal figure. At present, Pedri himself is sidelined from Barcelona duty due to a hamstring injury.
Real Madrid See a Transfer Opportunity in 2027
The report reveals that Real Madrid plan to attempt to sign Pedri during the summer transfer window of 2027.
Florentino Perez wishes to realize the transfer not only to strengthen his squad, but also to significantly weaken Barcelona.
Nevertheless, Barcelona are believed to remain calm in the face of this situation, as Pedri is protected by a release clause worth one billion euros in his contract, which remains valid for the next four years.
There is no doubt that Pedri would represent a major upgrade to the quality of Real Madrid.
However, Barcelona have made it clear that the midfielder is not for sale at any price.
As a result, the only way for Real Madrid to acquire Pedri would be to trigger his release clause, something that is considered impossible.
Even so, Florentino Perez is said to continue nurturing the dream of a major transfer that could potentially shake Spanish football.
