Mansion Sports – Barcelona have completed the signing of Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund for a reported transfer fee of €29 million, including additional bonuses.

The 24-year-old Germany international forward has signed a five-year contract with the Catalan club, providing additional firepower in attack following the departure of Robert Lewandowski and the end of Marcus Rashford's loan spell.

Barcelona confirmed the signing of Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund on a five-year contract that runs until June 2031.

The 24-year-old forward becomes Barcelona's second signing of the summer transfer window after Anthony Gordon. His arrival strengthens the Blaugrana's attacking line, which lost depth following Lewandowski's departure and the conclusion of Rashford's loan spell.

Known for his explosive pace, Adeyemi scored 36 goals in 146 appearances during his four years with Borussia Dortmund.

Borussia Dortmund sporting director Lars Ricken explained the reasoning behind the club's decision to part ways with their star forward, who had entered the final year of his contract.

In a statement published on the club's official website, Ricken emphasized that the agreement represented the best solution for all parties after the player expressed his desire to join Barcelona.

He said:

"Karim has been an important part of Borussia Dortmund over the past four years. Together with him, we reached the UEFA Champions League final in 2024. Nevertheless, this summer we agreed that both Karim and we wanted to pursue different paths in the future.

"When Karim informed us of his desire to move to FC Barcelona, we agreed after considering all of Borussia Dortmund's interests. We wish Karim and his family all the very best for the future."

Adeyemi Bids Farewell to Westfalenstadion

The transfer brings an end to Adeyemi's journey at Westfalenstadion after joining from Red Bull Salzburg in 2022.

His time at Dortmund was marked by his important role in helping the club reach the 2024 UEFA Champions League final.

Adeyemi also delivered a heartfelt farewell message to the club and Borussia Dortmund supporters.

"I would like to thank Borussia Dortmund for four wonderful years. To the club, my teammates, and the supporters who made every match special through their support. I wish BVB all the very best for the future."

Hansi Flick Will Maximize Adeyemi's Versatility

Reuniting with Hansi Flick, the coach who handed him his senior Germany national team debut in 2021, is expected to help Adeyemi adapt more quickly to Barcelona's playing system.

His arrival provides valuable flexibility in attack, as he is capable of playing both as a winger and as a central striker, although Barcelona's management continues its efforts to sign Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid.

The Blaugrana are now turning their attention to completing their preseason preparations before beginning their defense of the La Liga title in the 2026–2027 season.
