The win lifted Liverpool to eighth place in the standings with 21 points from 13 matches. Meanwhile, West Ham were forced to accept their fall to 17th place with 11 points, a situation that further complicates their efforts to escape the looming threat of the relegation zone.

Liverpool displayed immediate attacking intent. Alexander Isak produced the first notable chance with a powerful strike that was pushed away by Alphonse Areola.

Florian Wirtz also tested the West Ham goalkeeper, yet Areola continued to stand firm and kept the home side level.

Liverpool’s sustained pressure eventually paid off in the 60th minute. Starting from Cody Gakpo’s movement on the left flank, his cut-back pass found Isak, who converted with a precise finish to give Liverpool a 1–0 lead.

The goal marked Isak’s first Premier League strike for Liverpool, having previously opened his account for the club in the League Cup.

West Ham Reduced to Ten Men, Liverpool Capitalise

West Ham’s hopes of finding an equaliser faded when Lucas Paquetá received a second yellow card in the 84th minute, forcing the hosts to play with ten men. Liverpool used the advantage to secure the result.

In stoppage time, Joe Gomez delivered a high, accurate cross that was met by Gakpo, who doubled the lead in the 90+2 minute. 

The additional goal cemented Liverpool’s dominance as the match concluded with a 2–0 scoreline.
