The reigning Europa League champions are now only six points clear of 18th-placed West Ham United, having failed to win any of their last seven Premier League matches, and recording just one victory in their last 11 league games at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Saturday’s defeat also marked the fifth consecutive Premier League match in which Tottenham conceded at least two goals, and with an increasing number of defensive absentees, that run could extend to six games in the midweek fixture.

As a result of his sixth red card during his Spurs career, which was also his fourth in the Premier League and his second of the 2025–26 league season, Tottenham captain Cristian Romero must serve a four-match suspension starting this week, meaning he will also miss the upcoming North London Derby.
