Not Leaving Man City Yet, Here’s Why Pep Walked Away During Interview
Mansion Sports – Pep Guardiola made Manchester City supporters anxious about his future following a brief and cryptic post-match exchange at Wembley, but a body language expert believes the Catalan coach is still far from ending his tenure at the Etihad.
Despite avoiding questions regarding his long-term plans, the visible signs instead suggest renewed passion rather than an approaching farewell.
Analyzing Signs of Renewed Passion
According to body language expert Darren Stanton, the City manager is not displaying any indicators of someone preparing to leave Etihad Stadium.
Although speculation surrounding his future continues to grow, Stanton believes Guardiola’s current demeanor points toward continued dominance in the Premier League.
“Pep Guardiola will stay,” Stanton told OLBG. “There has been plenty of speculation that he could step down this summer, but everything we are seeing from him right now actually suggests that he has found renewed passion for his work.”
“I think he was honest when he told reporters that he still has one year remaining on his contract and intends to see it through. We are not seeing excessive blinking levels.”
“We are also not seeing physiological signs of stress. His eye contact is very strong. His body language is not contradicting what he is saying and expressing. He looks genuinely happy.”
“Guardiola’s microexpressions over the past week have shown excitement and happiness, even before City lifted another trophy against Chelsea,” Stanton added, indicating that the manager is searching for ways to rediscover both himself and his team once again.
The Truth Behind the Wembley Walk-Off
Speculation peaked after the FA Cup final when Guardiola remained guarded while being questioned about his future at the club, leading some to believe he was savoring the atmosphere for the final time.
However, Stanton does not agree with the narrative that the Catalan coach was quietly saying goodbye.
He argues that the manager’s decision to cut short the television interview came from frustration over repetitive questioning rather than an attempt to conceal an imminent departure.
“I do not think this will be his final appearance, leaving at the top. We would see more emotional leakage contradicting what he is saying, and we are not seeing that,” Stanton added.
“I am not detecting deception signals or inconsistencies in his behavior suggesting something else is happening. There are no warning signs from what I have seen that he is hiding a major secret about his future. I think he is simply tired of discussing it. That is why he walked away quickly when Laura Woods asked him about it on TNT Sports.”
Contract Extension on the Horizon?
The expert’s analysis suggests Guardiola’s spontaneous responses remain aligned with his public stance.
There are no psychological indicators suggesting the former Barcelona manager is hiding a secret.
Instead, he appears to be in a healthy psychological state, free from the typical tension that often marks a manager who has reached his limit at a high-pressure club.
“He remains consistent even in spontaneous responses. I do not believe he has a... surprise announcement, at least not from a psychological standpoint that contradicts what he is telling us,” Stanton continued.
“He appears relaxed and free from stress, and I think he is genuinely in a happy place, so I believe he will at least complete his contract. Perhaps after that he will decide to do something else with his team, but I also would not be surprised if the rumors surrounding filming that people assumed was a farewell video are actually a new contract announcement to keep him at City long term.”
Domestic Treble Remains the Priority
While analysts continue examining his every movement, Guardiola remains focused on matters on the pitch as Manchester City continue their pursuit of more silverware.
After securing both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, attention now shifts back to the Premier League title race as they attempt to wrestle the crown away from Arsenal in the closing weeks of the season.
Victory at Wembley kept their dream of a domestic treble alive, proving that the squad remain hungry for success under the current leadership.
City still have work to do if they want to overthrow Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, but with two trophies already secured, momentum is now fully on the blue side of Manchester.
Whether a new contract announcement will truly arrive soon remains to be seen, but for now, the body language suggests Guardiola’s era is still far from its final chapter.
