Gianluigi Donnarumma Officially Joins Manchester City

Mansion Sports - Italy’s national team captain, Gianluigi Donnarumma, has been officially unveiled as a new Manchester City player following the completion of a permanent transfer from Paris Saint-Germain.

According to Football Italia, City finalized the agreement with PSG for a fee of €27 million. The 26-year-old goalkeeper has signed a four-year contract, keeping him at the Etihad Stadium until the summer of 2029.

Contract Details and Remarkable Salary Package

Donnarumma will receive a lucrative salary package throughout his stay in Manchester. In his first season, he is set to earn €15 million, rising to €16 million in the second year, and reaching €17 million annually in each of the final two years of his contract.

His move to the Premier League comes after PSG signed French international goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier, following the breakdown of negotiations over a contract extension with Donnarumma. With just one year left on his deal at Parc des Princes, PSG decided to sanction his transfer to City.

Donnarumma’s Career Journey So Far

Manchester City is the third club of Donnarumma’s professional career, after spells with AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain.

At Milan, he made over 250 appearances after debuting at just 16 years old and lifted the Supercoppa Italiana in 2016.

In the summer of 2021, he joined PSG, where he immediately established himself as a crucial figure.

During his four seasons in Paris, Donnarumma won four Ligue 1 titles, two Coupe de France trophies, and three Trophee des Champions. His crowning achievement came in May, when he played a pivotal role in PSG’s historic first UEFA Champions League triumph, a resounding 5-0 victory over Inter Milan in the final.

Manchester City’s Welcome Statement

In an official statement, Manchester City confirmed the signing:

“We are delighted to announce the acquisition of Gianluigi Donnarumma from Paris Saint-Germain, subject to international clearance. The 26-year-old Italian goalkeeper has signed a five-year deal until the summer of 2030. He arrives with a wealth of elite-level experience, establishing himself as one of Europe’s finest goalkeepers.”

Standing at 195 cm, Donnarumma is renowned for his commanding presence and resilience between the posts.

His arrival is expected to significantly bolster City’s goalkeeping department, even with James Trafford—who started the club’s first three Premier League fixtures of the 2025–26 season—currently serving as the first-choice option.
