Former Manchester United Star Warns Liverpool About Mohamed Salah
Mansion Sports – Mohamed Salah has been warned that he will not return to play for Liverpool after delivering strong criticism toward the club and manager Arne Slot.
Salah expressed his frustration after being benched for the third consecutive time in the match against Leeds, and he told the media that he felt he had been “sacrificed” by the club.
The Egyptian forward was then excluded from Liverpool’s squad to face Inter in the Champions League and now faces an uncertain future at Anfield.
Salah’s Critical Outburst Adds Pressure on Liverpool
Liverpool are enduring a very poor attempt to defend their Premier League title in the 2025–26 season and currently sit in 10th place in the standings, ten points behind league leaders Arsenal.
This situation has been further worsened by Salah’s controversial interview following the defeat to Leeds in the previous Premier League match.
Manager Arne Slot stated that he “did not know” whether the key player would feature for the club again, while former Manchester United forward Patrice Evra stressed that the relationship between Liverpool and Salah had ended, comparing his emotional outburst to Cristiano Ronaldo’s actions in the past.
Salah’s Criticism Considered Similar to Ronaldo
Evra told Stake: “This reminds me a little of when Cristiano did the interview with Piers Morgan in 2022. People often forget that we are also human and can be hurt. When I heard what Salah said, I felt that someone was deeply wounded. The reaction from the fans was really excessive. Considering what he has achieved for the club, but at the same time, when you are not playing well, sometimes you have to accept sitting on the bench. I feel he will not play for Liverpool again. It is possible Liverpool can perform better without him and maybe they will let him go in January.
“I feel this has gone on one year too long, he should have left last summer. When Sadio Mane departed, I knew Liverpool would face problems. Even though they won the league last year, I knew at some point they would encounter difficulties. Salah feels the club is sacrificing him, but it is never good to speak openly about the club in public. I do not blame Liverpool. I do not blame Salah. He is human. He did that interview with his heart. Sometimes speaking with your heart does not always give good results, but I see this as a point of no return for Salah.”
Will Salah Follow Ronaldo’s Path to Saudi Arabia?
Ronaldo previously delivered strong criticism toward Manchester United and coach Erik ten Hag, stating that he did not respect the manager, before eventually leaving Old Trafford at the end of 2022 and joining Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.
Salah is now reportedly considering following the Portuguese icon’s path to the Middle East, with several clubs said to be interested in taking him from Anfield in the January transfer window. It remains uncertain whether he will leave this winter, but Salah previously admitted that he almost joined one of the Saudi Pro League clubs before signing a major two-year contract extension with Liverpool earlier this year.
Spotlight on Salah as Liverpool Host Brighton
All attention will turn to Anfield on Saturday as the latest chapter in Salah’s story continues. Liverpool will return to Premier League action against Brighton, which will be Salah’s final match before joining the Egypt squad for the Africa Cup of Nations.
It is not yet known whether Salah will feature in the match or once again sit on the bench. If Slot once again leaves Salah out of the starting lineup, it will likely increase speculation about a possible move in the winter transfer window.
