Chelsea Begin Pursuit of Real Madrid Star Forward
Mansion Sports – Real Madrid forward Rodrygo Goes was heavily linked with a move away from the club during the summer transfer window but ultimately remained at the Santiago Bernabéu.
However, with no significant increase in his playing time under Xabi Alonso, uncertainty continues to surround his long-term future in the Spanish capital.
Chelsea Open Talks with Real Madrid
During the summer, Rodrygo was reportedly on the radar of Manchester City and Arsenal, though neither club took concrete steps to secure his signature. Now, Chelsea have reportedly initiated contact with Real Madrid regarding a potential transfer.
According to a report from Indykaila, the London club are prepared to complete the signing of Rodrygo either in the January transfer window or next summer.
Hours after the initial news broke, ESPN Brasil partially confirmed the report, stating that Rodrygo has begun to consider the possibility of leaving Real Madrid.
While ESPN did not specifically mention Chelsea, the outlet claimed that the Brazilian forward would prefer a move to the Premier League should he decide to depart Spain.
The change in attitude reportedly stems from his growing dissatisfaction with his role under Xabi Alonso, which he perceives as lacking fair opportunities for consistent playing time.
Rodrygo Seeks Role on the Left Wing
At the start of the season, reports indicated that Rodrygo had requested the chance to compete for a place on the left side of Real Madrid’s attack — a position typically occupied by Vinícius Júnior — rather than continuing to operate on the right, where he has often been deployed in recent years.
Although Alonso briefly experimented with using him in that role, Rodrygo’s overall involvement has remained limited, with few opportunities to start matches regularly.
Lack of Playing Time Fuels Growing Frustration
So far this season, Rodrygo has logged just 359 minutes across 13 appearances, recording two assists. He has started only three matches and has played more than 63 minutes on just one occasion.
Most of his appearances have come as a late substitute for around 20 minutes, a situation that has increasingly frustrated the Brazilian forward as he struggles to establish himself as a consistent presence in Real Madrid’s attack.
