Tensions Escalate Between Massimiliano Allegri and Cesc Fabregas Following Incident at San Siro

Mansion SportsThe relationship between the Milan coach, Massimiliano Allegri, and the Como coach, Cesc Fabregas, flared up again after the two were involved in a heated argument in the press conference room following the red card received by Allegri, while Fabregas issued an apology for “unsporting behavior.”

The tension between the two coaches had in fact already been visible when AC Milan defeated Como 1907 with a score of 3-1 at Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia on January 15, in a match in which the Rossoneri secured victory despite the opposition dominating much of the play.

Touchline Incident Sparks Chaos

The situation escalated during a 1-1 draw at San Siro when Fabregas appeared to reach beyond the touchline and allegedly pulled the jersey of Alexis Saelemaekers or pushed him while play was still ongoing.

The Milan winger reacted angrily, which then triggered a response from the Como team manager and culminated in a verbal altercation with Allegri.

It appeared that Fabregas’ initial action was not seen by the referee or his assistants, as the red card was instead shown to Allegri and a member of the Como staff.

The decision angered Allegri, prompting him to deliver a sarcastic remark, “then next time when I see someone running past me, I will immediately make a sliding tackle.”

Fabregas Issues Public Apology

After the match, Fabregas promptly delivered an apology in all post-match interviews and in the press conference.

“I apologize, it was only a small touch and Allegri’s response was excessive, but I acknowledge that I should not have done it,” stated the Spanish coach.

“It was unsporting behavior. As Cristian Chivu said some time ago, we must keep our hands to ourselves, especially if you are a coach.”

“I would also be angry in such a situation, so I can only apologize and hope that something like this never happens again in my career.”

Verbal Dispute Continues Behind the Scenes

However, reports from Sky Sport Italia and DAZN revealed that Allegri, who was waiting for his turn to give a press conference, once again crossed paths with Fabregas, and the two resumed a tense exchange of words outside the reach of the cameras.
