Bayern Munich Retain Bundesliga Title with Four Matches Remaining
Mansion Sports – Bayern Munich successfully retained the Bundesliga title after defeating Stuttgart 4-2 at the Allianz Arena on Sunday, while also delivering Harry Kane his third trophy of his career with the German giants.
This result places Vincent Kompany’s side 15 points ahead of second-placed Borussia Dortmund with only four matches remaining, and celebrations erupted after the final whistle.
Celebrations Begin in Munich
Dortmund had actually opened the door for their rivals to secure the title after losing 2-1 to Hoffenheim on Saturday, but Bayern started the match poorly on Sunday afternoon.
Chris Furich gave Stuttgart the lead in the 21st minute, briefly silencing the home supporters.
However, Kompany’s team responded after the 30th minute and ended the first half with a 3-1 lead thanks to goals from Raphael Guerreiro, Nicolas Jackson, and Alphonso Davies within an intense six-minute period.
Kane came off the bench in the second half and scored from close range to make it 4-1, before Bayern secured the victory despite Stuttgart managing a consolation goal through Chema Andres, thereby confirming consecutive domestic titles and the first trophy in a potential treble.
Another Trophy for Kane
Kompany made several changes to his lineup following the team’s dramatic victory over Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-final in midweek, taking into account the DFB-Pokal semifinal against Bayer Leverkusen on April 22.
Kane was among the players who started on the bench, but he entered in the first half to replace Jamal Musiala and played an important role in Bayern’s 25th Bundesliga win of the season.
The England national team captain joined Bayern in 2023 without a single major trophy in his career record, but has now collected two Bundesliga titles and one German Super Cup.
Kane is also projected to secure his third Bundesliga top scorer title, having scored 32 goals in 27 appearances so far this season.
A Lethal Attacking Machine Under Kompany
Bayern has now extended its Bundesliga title record to 35, and this season’s achievement is among the most impressive.
With only one defeat and four draws so far, Kompany’s side has been nearly unstoppable, boasting an attacking line that is the envy of their rivals.
Bayern has scored 109 goals in 30 matches so far and also holds the best defensive record in the league, conceding only 29 goals.
Bayern on Course for a Historic Treble
Kompany’s Bayern is on track to match the achievement of the 2012-13 team by winning the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, and the Champions League.
After the match against Leverkusen, Bayern will face Mainz in the Bundesliga before preparing for the first leg of the Champions League semifinal against defending champions Paris Saint-Germain, which will take place at Parc des Princes on April 28.
