Harry Kane Puts New Bayern Contract on Hold, Ready to Move to Barca?
Mansion Sports – Harry Kane has played down the urgency surrounding a contract extension with Bayern Munich despite just completing a sensational individual campaign.
The England captain has just enjoyed a record-breaking year in Bavaria, but fans may have to wait until after the World Cup to receive clarity regarding his long-term future.
The Striker Delays Contract Talks
Kane revealed that he is not yet ready to sit down and discuss a contract extension with Bayern.
The former Tottenham player ended his domestic season by lifting the DFB-Pokal trophy in Berlin, but he has chosen to postpone negotiations until after the upcoming World Cup.
While Bayern supporters are eager to see the 32-year-old commit his long-term future to the club, Kane remains calm about the situation.
With the domestic season now officially over, the striker’s focus has fully shifted to international duty and the pursuit of a major trophy with England before returning to the negotiating table in Bavaria.
What Harry Kane Said About His Future
Speaking to Sky Sport DE after the cup final victory against Stuttgart, Kane responded to speculation regarding his contract renewal. The striker explained that although talks are planned, they will not take place in the near future.
The England captain said: “Now is not the time to talk about that, but there is no panic. We want to have discussions after the end of the season and we still have the World Cup to play. But everyone knows how much I enjoy being here. The situation is calm.”
The statement confirms that although there is an intention to hold discussions, the World Cup is the main priority.
Hoeness Dismisses Barcelona Transfer Rumors
Kane’s outstanding performances have kept him linked with Europe’s elite clubs, with reports suggesting that Barcelona are interested in bringing him to Camp Nou as a replacement for Robert Lewandowski.
However, Bayern honorary president Uli Hoeness quickly dismissed the idea that their star player could be sold this summer.
Hoeness gave his characteristic firm response to the speculation, insisting that Barcelona do not have the funds to finance an operation of that scale.
The Bayern executive remains adamant that the club has no intention of selling the player he described as the best transfer they have ever made, especially after a season in which Kane scored 61 goals in 51 matches.
Uncertainty Over a Potential Return to the Premier League
Although Kane appears comfortable in Germany, the shadow of the Premier League scoring record continues to follow him.
After leaving Tottenham with 213 goals, he remains within close distance of Alan Shearer’s legendary record of 260 goals, which leads many to believe that his return to England is inevitable before he retires.
The striker previously admitted that his view regarding a possible return has softened the longer he plays in the Bundesliga.
Although he has not ruled out going back, Kane reaffirmed his commitment to the German giants.
He added: “I am fully with Bayern. If there are discussions about an extension then we will see later, but I still have this season and one more season. It is not like I am in the final year of my contract, this is not a situation that causes panic.”
